Founded in 1987 on the shores of Ka'anapali Beach in Lahaina, Maui, Maui Jim began as a small brand with a big vision: to create sunglasses that not only shield eyes from intense sun and glare, but also enhance the vivid, vibrant colors of island life. This vision led to the invention of the PolarizedPlus2® lens—a revolutionary technology that offers unmatched clarity, color, and protection.

What started with just seven classic styles has grown into a globally recognized collection of over 125 styles of sunglasses and eyeglasses, all designed to block 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays and eliminate glare without compromising color or comfort.

Though now part of the Kering Eyewear family, Maui Jim remains true to its roots. The original office in Lahaina, Maui, still serves as the heart of innovation—where new designs are developed and tested against the island’s natural brilliance.
