1-Day Beginner’s DIY Eyewear Making Class

 

Create. Craft. Wear What You Make.

Ever wondered what it’s like to make your own glasses?
Join us for a truly hands-on experience where you become the maker.

In this fun and creative one-day class, you’ll design and build your very own pair of glasses or sunglasses — from scratch. Choose from a curated range of frame shapes, vibrant acetate colours, and two stainless steel temple finishes with spring hinges — all handpicked to help you create a pair that reflects your personality and style.

No experience? No worries. With a small group of just six participants, you’ll receive all the guidance you need throughout the day. We’ll walk you through each step — from choosing your materials to shaping, sanding, and assembling your custom frame.

 

What’s Included:

 

  • All tools, materials, and equipment provided

  • A wide selection of acetate fronts and two stainless steel temple options with spring hinges

  • A full-day, hands-on bespoke eyewear-making experience

  • A chance to make a DIY ring, keyring, or pendant using leftover acetate (for yourself or your pet!)

  • Your choice of non-prescription blue light lenses or non-prescription polarised sunglasses lenses (included in the workshop fee)

  • Prescription lenses available — just bring your current script or book an eye test with us (Medicare-covered eye tests can be arranged separately — please note the workshop and eye test may occur on different days)

  • Claimable through private health insurance with extras cover
    (T&Cs apply – just ask us for details)

  • One complimentary Starbucks drink on the day

When It Happens:

🗓️ Every Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday
🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM  (Lunch breaks: 12PM-1PM)

 


What You'll Be Doing:

You’ll be involved in every part of the process — from hand-cutting your frame front with a saw, to filing, sanding, and polishing your creation.
We’ll support you with the more technical steps like beveling, shaping the frame, and installing temples and nose pads for a perfect fit.

You’ll also get to craft a small accessory — like a ring, keyring, or pendant — from leftover acetate, with the option to engrave it for a meaningful touch.


After the Workshop:

Your finished frame will be ready for pick-up the following day, fitted with your choice of non-prescription lenses.
(Final fitting requires a pre-booked 15min session)

If you’ve chosen prescription lenses, expected turnaround is:

  • Single vision: ~1 week

  • Progressive lenses: ~2 weeks
